O My GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME as Peter Sellers ( Doctor who? ) would say..in the MOVIES.. are you telling me that is the FORMER GOAN INSTITUTE aka GI and YES like Mombasa was for decades it i now ZANZIBAR INSTITUTE ?

Tho I lived "next door" ( on the Left side ) second floor level there being a low roof house between us. My Parents rented the home of Your Illustrious Uncle Dr De Souza Brother of Your Grandma MRS CHIEF.. Adolph De Souza whose family moved in after my parents left 1964, did nto send me a picture of the renovated ( Improved ? ) Gated Vuga Mansion do you have a Picture..?

Do you have pictures of what is on the left side (BARWANI House) adjacent to the Open space being cleared..for something we will not recognise next year..

I could see into the Upper windows an when the MUSIC began - and we could hesr evey thing LOUD nd CLEAR never failed to look out That is when I was there aged 9.. 21..

I went to College at 16 1958 and came home at Christmas and and again after the Academic year ended in April- ( Not June - August as in the Uk USA)

I actually did go to the New Year Dance..1964, because some of the Young Men in the GI came to my house and asked why I did not go I guess a I wass 21. I had no excuse.. So I got dressed in five minutes nsd we were off.. One week later I took off from Zanzibar Airport never to return.

It was a real shock but the whole world knew it was coming- 1950 had OAU announce it..Everyone ( Goan) we know, left and began their new Life in Tangayika or Kenya and yes a few even in Uganda but the majority back to Goa to India to New Nation of Pakistan or to The UK .. Canada and Portugal were not quite as appealing right then. Australia not till late 1960. After the Mass exodus began

Major social events honoring the various Goans were held at That Amazing Club. More thn just drinking dancing an have a good time once in a while it was a place for Men hard working and reliable to spend an eveing before heading home to the respnsibilities of Fatherood Manhood and BrotherHood in the neighborhood. No Community can survive are keep is special identity ann SOUL without such a Club..

As you now the Sir Tayabali Karimjee Juvanjee Family and frinds and supported did try to work with all races and group willing and able to start a Club for ZANZIBAR..a it was going to be after 1964..

Dance at the ALL RACES CLUB MAY 1961 and we know what happened there.! The Goan Band ( with young Gundevia?) know best.. Mom never went to dances as I recalltho she loved music and dancing...We had regular dances in Colleges but a rather formal thing that was but same idea Keeps the SOUL of the Community togther.

My Birthday 22 was on Makerere Hill - Makerere College now a Major University with Global Outreachand asnd Key Player on the SAVE THE PLANET COMMUNITY

The G7 G 20 GLOBAL Groups are doing their best. Money is freely available to whosoever is willing able and already doing so, by their socio economic Political History .. of the past 100 years.

Couple o' Billion and Hey Presto Paradise for some.. Vacation for others and Facination for most who find it hard to belive Zanzibar was there at least 800 years aggo .. Imagine the same time as St Dominic whose Feast Day it is today ..In Spain which was going strong 800 yeasrs an more prior.
