I have always wondered if Jan 12 1964 REVOLUTION had not happened and succeeded  would I have been Posted there.. 

with those Teachers seated? or maybe even replace one of them ?.. Instead I found myself empolyed the the Education Dept of Kenya and posted to the Govt Coast Girls High School founded and funded and defended by the First Doctor Lawyer Buiness banker Group of men and women from India Gujerat Maharastra and Goan. I was just for a year half and then I resigned to cope with my changed situation. Wife and Mother

I did teach for five months (after the abrupt departure of a teacher who went to Canada with no notice March 1966) That was in an All Boys private school some as old as 20. I was 24 and very pregnant with my second child.. and quit days before his birth My Brother Desmond SJCSZAN 1964. He had just graduated from Mombasa Goan Sacred Heart School Dec 1964 took over from me till those "boys" sat their Exam - then, still even after UHURU  "Senior Cambrigde" (British Colony after all till Dec 1 9 6 3 took years to Transforn and transpose transfer the system and titles.  

 

Catholic Pastor Priest insisted I teach as a volunteer under the Bishop ! Religion to Hig school studnets in Private or Other schools with no access to Catholic Schools. In the USA I  'accompanied' my children from day one - to Catholic school drove them there and Gov in New Hampshire..provides bus only for Public schools In Connecticut where we landed they permitted busing to Catholic schools ... The Nice Nuns had me sit in First grade with my youngest and assist as Aide with 8th graders till my children went on to Public School. 

 

When I had my own American Born years later I was asked to Volunteer - as Parent wherever needed.. and for six years did a music in classroom for K-4 I wrote curriculum suited to Those young children and to Our Catholic Principles and beliefs and Religious practices... The Choir VChurch Music was done by others and Marching Band Instruments by those expert in it.. 

WEE SING forms our American Identity Text books had 55 Community songs known by every American over thr age of 60. now all dead. 

 

Schools have now an influx of all peoples many races many languages many religions and teachers and Unions.who do not agree on anything especially a School Song or Hymn or National Anthem!  

 

So the Happy Chaos that is Global is ours too..

How wonderful It was for me to be able to re connect with George Fernandes Zanzibar.

He had the same Qualification as I but better effort and better Final Marks, Older by a few years and Graduated by 1963. He was am I right made Principal of the Arab Boys Secondary aka King George V1 just before 1964 Jan 12 I was not able to talk with George in person till Tan - ZANDO 1992 Toronto. 

 

We then kept up a correspondence by Letter and communicated in person in Chicago, Reunion 2005. 

 

Gonsalves Wedding ( Lawrence son ) time 2010 was the last time Bosco and I spent a day with him.. He died 6 months later 

I have a treasure trove of his hand written in special graphic responses to by hastily dashed off Scribbles.

We have many teachers in our family and my "Music class" had my own youngest - ! now with his own band ZIKINA MUSIC. He wants to show me what Music is really all about in REAL LIFE! It is the Soul of a People Nation Community.

You are a "Gold Mine" of Info I did not have .. We were very Insulated and isolated growinf up "Totally Segregated" not allowed to ask question and even when and If I did there was not an answer that made sense to me .. especially My Mom born and raised in Karachi Pakistan by her Dad an engineer for a Major British Company RALLI BROTHERS with Mills in Ahjmer, Lahore ..and other cities of that time 1910- 1938 wehn she married my Dad and moved to Pemba and Zanzibar.... and that is how we came to be a Zanzibar Pinto Family ..

There was no Arab Boys Secondary School in Zanzibar. In fact there was no school with Arab as name there.
It was Government Boys Secondary School at Mnazimoja and the new one at Saateni from 1958 where George worked was King George the 6th. Grammar School. I am a product of both schools.
The boys school became Seyyida Matuka for girls soon after, they moved from Mizingani Front in between Customs House and sultans Palace.
