Today I read a copy of what you wrote to Madhu, explaining Karibu Paradise Zanzibar website.

 

I have read all recent emails sent out via Benito but was having difficulty with BIG TECH.

 

a)  some message coming up saying I had been hacked and needed something done, 'we can fix it give us your info "!! It was from a scam artist. 

 

b)   I get regular emails from a Marie Lobo!  I had a lovely famous first Cousin by that name, she was an officer for UNO Organisation for Refugees HCR not HUMAN RIGHTS UNHRC.  Born in Poona India.  She worked with Refugees in Mogadishu Afghanistan Rwanda Nairobi - became friends with Quitty Coutinho but sadly she died in Goa 2018 our years younger than I. UNO gave her a GREAT tribute. Her work is on record.

 

c)   It is 2 years since Jo and SJCSZAN left the Yahoo Groups, and year since Adolph and Hustasp and a few others saw the need for something TUMEKUJAH 1964.  Meant a new Beginning for those who were - willing and able to stay behind on the Island.

 

d)  We the Folks forced to find another place, another base with another "Face of Grace" - like you, Yvette. 

 

 In Mombasa we became The People of The Holy Ghost - Desmond Joe and Jerome became students of The Goan Sacred Heart School.

There too was Teacher Michael Muise.  God bless His Soul.  You were engaged at Christmas time 1967?!  By then I in Mombasa had given birth to my First Three Children 11 months apart Irish Triplet they call these and they were all baptized by Fr Dennis Blackledge the Priest who officiated Your Wedding!! 

 

He died in Oklahoma where his brother too was a Priest or something I am told. We did correspond for a while.

       

e)  We all knew the CARDOZO family in Zanzibar, but they left when I was not yet 9 years old.   Genny Cardozo married Joe de Lord - 1959 while I was in College and we did not meet till 1968 December!  in Mombasa They came from the UK.

  

Elaine ( my Twin look alike)  had lived in Mombasa since 1960  3 years  - because  Zanzibar  would not give her a teaching job. She had Trained in Kensington in a Madame Montessori Program, and the Education system in Zanzibar was being Reformed TRANS formed and Informed in  a new way suited to Century 21 post Y2K    

 

Elaine had met a Goan man in Germany when she was finished with her studies in the UK.  Cleto Dos Remedios was brother to Anthony Dos R teaching in the Aladina Visram School in Mombasa.  So, on a visit to Mombasa April 1964 Cleto met Elaine again. They were engaged the week Mom and Dad arrived by boat from Zanzibar, ‘The Al Said’?  Maybe.  I came from Kampala to meet them but got a fever of 103 F and had to stay in bed at a friend of Elaine.  

 

Harusi wedding was planned for Canada Niagara Falls in September. Happy but sad as we thought maybe would not see Elaine again for a LONG time.  She had no Temp Travel Doc and BRITISH ZAN Passports were NUL and Void. We were stateless Refugees No citizenship in India or any place else. 

                    

Then I came over the Border by Road after I finished my studies to be DIP Edu Makerere and got the Job to teach at the Large Coast Girls High School that very week.    That same week I arrived in Mombasa    Mr & Mrs and son Bosco came to visit the PINTOS!  It was The First Sunday in June 7 we were engaged June 27 same date Mr and Mrs C were married in 1925 in India and My Mom and Dad in Karachi INDIA June 27 1938  

 

Elaine and I do not look alike anymore but we are alike in every other sense of our being.!

 

To conclude in this MONTH of the Immaculate Conception - Patroness of the USA. She who had first made an appearance in Mexico in 1530's.

WOMAN!  Mother sister cousin wife friend was first a Beloved daughter.

 

Political upheavals and other realities like climate change and Stock Exchange   have for more than 100 years dispersed Our ZanCan Family - now a DIASPORA held together by all joined to the UK Australia, as Mom’s sisters Aunties as was Our Dearly Departed Queen Elizabeth 11 but first she was a daughter born to Daughter of Elizabeth Bowes Lyon.  Born in Scotland 1900 QUEEN MOM lived to 102 and died in 202 right after Princess Margaret in the Spring and not long before our Beloved Desmond Pinto.

 

 He died in August 19... and was given a glorious welcome into ST JOSEPH THE WORKER Parish Richmond that had sent off my Mum and Dad.

 

Joe Elaine and family arranged for the Wake Service AUG 22 Feast of The Queenship of Mary Immaculate. I was with Bosco in San Francisco visiting our newborn granddaughter.  Bosco and I flew up to Vancouver for that Glorious send-off Aug 23.  So 22 23 and 2022 2023 have me remembering all that. Goodness and mercy of Our God to us all at this time and always. 

  

 Desmond was born in Karachi Dec 18 1946 and my Dad who had returned to Zanzibar never got to see him - It must have been lonely as Dad had his first Baby son 4 month old ANTHONY MICHAEL born AUG 1945 - and buried in Zanzibar Catholic Cemetery January 4 1946.

 

Life may be difficult and even seem "impossible to endure" but I am assured as are you Yvette that Our beloved departed before us are in Heaven 

We who wait in the DEPARTURE LOUNGE!! are getting Tweets and nudges that things are BETTER in the BEST Place of all and YET!! I am clinging to the little people here who say NOT YET stay here in the not so good places we love so much. Our Paradise on earth really hold us or we are torn. But every now and then I will hear something I associate with those again Lo and behold yesterday as I drove off, I heard a Very Family Classical tune that I was sure was one of the ones Mom played daily, a sign she thanks to the angelic presence and grace of God - was there with me. 

 

Then I realised it was the Simpler version of what Mom taught me when I was about 12? 13.? 

 

The POET and PEASANT by Von ZUPPE !! had been recorded by The Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by ZUBIN METHA! and it engulfed my soul Music is will always be the Language of the SOUL sung played and composed by many over time and yet the Lord God of the Universe says  

   

"OUT of the Mouth of babes and suckling’s have I found perfect praise" a new-born infant cries and coos and sounds of delight and happiness - as it grows to be a man a woman - is who each of us was once upon a time now scattered, we are Fully Mature this Dec 21 Longest brightest SUMMER Day in Perth Australia is our Shortest Arctic Blast cold day in Canada Nova Scotia and New England.!
