I went there only twice.. Once in 1955 when some work was being done in the Dr De Souza House We stayed with Mom's best Friend from PEMBA days Lucy Machado - ( wife of Frank and Mother to Evelyn Anthony and the three little ones who were at home there one in a Hig chair at dinner time) I was 13..

Sadly Felicity pasased away yar ago..as did Ophelia Rodrigues who married ADOLF Mascarenhas also Makerere Students when I was...

I had taken without his permission ( as Desmond my Brother would not part with it ) a large Studio PHOTO of the Deceased Dr dressed in a TUXEDO shoes tied with a ribbon Alzira Carvalho the only feminine figure kneeling beside his feets the other all standing All dressed in suits.

My Uncle Eugene, My Dad, Mr Carvalho, Dad of Alzira, Mr "Chief" your Grand father, a Mr Theoton.. My Zuzine and couple of others When local Fundis came to renovate our home 2017.. Things were moved from my Sacred Little Office Study.. an I never saw much of that stuff again.. It is I am sure in a box someplace.. Maybe someone else has that Picture? 1942 43.

Dr Rodrigues was related to Diana Poona wife of Ignatius Pereira at whose wedding I was Flower girl nad the Bride was Givne away by my Dad on behalf of hehr Parents who did not come from POONA!

I never forget when we visted T O R O N T  O 2002 for a wedding and YONGE STREET was shur down for PRIDE DAY ( not LIONS in the Seregeti !)
we were wanting to cross to the other side but it took hours before we could but we enjoyed the Parade as do folks with each parade that goes by.
2 weeks before or after that - was POPE JOHN PAUL 11 2002 came down that same YONGE STREET and again it would be shut down that Day too
who would like to ( or not like to) Live on that Street ?
2 0 0 2 was Pope's J P TWO last Over- the Seas to "Keep the Faithful - Faith Filled" America - Canada Mexico skipping the OTHER Nation that seprates Those TWO
Over my House ..The Big Bird (PLane) flew I think I felt the Presence and JOY of knowing "there is Pope Overhead" !! ( not man over board)

OK This is amazing .. well written.. I forget how you are related o George Pereira.. The Teacher writer gene or upbringing is coming through as is the learning by traveling so much to Goa and elsewhere ..

I had read your other stories before Mervyn. Fishing in Texas, adventures in the Grand Canyon but this one sounds so convincing and real - like a TRUE Personal experience - but
I'm not sure about a PINOC who "knows you know he is lying" !! A German Trader who could sell his shrimp in Germany so had capabilty to do proper freezing ..in those days ? HMM

Pictured here is the KONISBERG Three Funnels / Bomba Tatu.. but no picture of SS Somali .. but yes I do like pictures it adds to excitment of the story.

To top it all it follws your telling us of you in a band - and a picture of you in that band ! So ties to the Musical Musicians Goan in East Africa were famous.
Benito is focused on making his goals a reality What others have had to fantsize, Imagine an dream about we in East Africa have lived..

Glad you both are keeping on keeping up with the need to brighten our already exicting lives in a most exciting time so far..in Century 21
